Project Scope: Art Direction, Branding, UI/UX, Visual Design, Identity

Tools Used: Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma

Project Description: Ryoko is a touring company established in Tokyo, Japan, the heart of the country. Ryoko (トラベル) is the Japanese word meaning travel. What makes this touring company different from competing businesses is that not only is this a fun and exciting experience for tourists, but its main focus is to educate travelers about the history of Japanese culture, taking you to four of Japan’s most notable destinations. The tour will begin in Tokyo and end in Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, making the duration of this trip eight full days. You will be guided with the help of a tour guide and app that will provide written and more detailed information about each location.

Objective: Since Japan is becoming more and more stereotyped because of its unique entertainment and pop culture, people are forgetting the rich history of this popular country. I wanted to create an experience for tourists that’s main goal is to educate. With the integration of both technology and in-person experiences, this will make for a more memorable and better educated trip that tourists will never forget.

RYOKOトラベル

Due to the vast advance of technology in Japan, I intended the Ryoko app to serve as a “self-guided tour” for travelers who would like to adventure in Japan without the need of a tour guide. At each location, tourists are allowed to part ways from their group to venture through each destination while using of the app that also provides the same educational information that is informed by the actual tour guide. When the group tour is done, tourists who chose the self-guided tour will receive a notification letting them know that it’s time to return to the busses and head back to homebase. If you choose the self-guided tour, the app is able to detect your location to offer activities, restaurants, etc. nearby and the estimated time upon your arrival. In the end, both the self-guided and guided groups will meet at each location together that includes the same information the tour has to offer. It’s your choice to how you want to adventure through Japan!
